A team from Waste King – a specialist collections, clearance and recycling company that focuses on providing a service which is highly environmentally friendly – was carrying out a collection in London recently when the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, called round and asked the team if they were ‘making all that racket next door’.

The Waste King operatives explained that they weren’t builders – who were, indeed, making some noise on the premises. Rather, they were removing the waste that the builders were generating on the site in order to recycle it.

Waste King takes its environmental responsibilities extremely seriously and guarantees to recycle at least 95 per cent of any and every load of waste that it collects. In practice, that figure is usually nearer 97 per cent.

Boris Johnson expressed an interest in how Waste King’s teams of Environment Agency licenced operatives recycle all of this waste.

Waste King’s fully trained and insured two-man teams, equipped with brushes, shovels, gloves and a truck:

  • Turn up at the property, by prior arrangement, within an agreed two hour period
  • Collect the rubbish – from anywhere on the property – and load it onto the truck
  • Clean up after the job is done, leaving the property refreshingly free from clutter
  • Provide the appropriate paperwork – to prove, among other things, that the builder and property owner have complied with all the relevant regulations about waste disposal

Waste King’s managing director, Glenn Currie, commented: “In addition, we’ll collect, remove and dispose of – in the kindest way for the environment – almost anything, including the hazardous items that you can’t, legally, put into a skip. We guarantee to minimise our clients’ carbon footprint, helping them to be more environmentally friendly and ‘green’.”
