Among the awards hopefuls in the ‘Bespoke Learning Solution of the Year’ category at this year’s WOLCE Awards – announced in Birmingham on 19th November – was ‘Understanding business’, a programme from the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS).

Interestingly, RBS has been no stranger to publicity recently for its apparent misunderstanding of business issues that has seen it have to go to the Government for funds to keep it in operation.

On announcing the RBS entry at the Awards ceremony, the comedian Marcus Brigstocke, allegedly remarked that it ‘seems the jokes are writing themselves’.

Comment: He may have a point there. At least the RBS programme didn’t win. That prize went to the BBC College of Journalism for a programme called ‘Safeguarding Trust’. So, no potential amusement there then.
